Anyone can make spelling mistakes, but this is not an excuse to submit a document with too many typos. Advanced text editors include spell checkers as well as auto-correct features, but the programs can be too complicated and uncomfortable for some users. If your favorite text editor does not have a built-in spell checker, tinySpell can help you. The application checks for spelling mistakes, as you type, and it suggests various words, if it detects a mistake. The best part is that it works with any Windows application that involves typing.

tinySpell is freeware, but you can also find tinySpell+, which includes more features, but it is not free. You can download the application in a few moments, even with a slower Internet connection. The installation procedure is just as fast and you don't have to meet any special requirements or reboot your computer.

As previously suggested, it does not matter if you type your text in MS Word, Notepad or on a web browser. tinySpell will check your spelling at all times, regardless of the used program. The application works in the background, so it will not hinder you in any way. If you misspell a word, tinySpell will display it as a tip, on your editor's interface. Clicking this tip will reveal a series of suggestions in a pop-up menu. To correct your misspelled word, you just need to select a suggestion.

All spell checkers interpret names as misspelled words. tinySpell is no exception, but it allows you to add the "misspelled" words to a dictionary. You can find this option among the suggested words, in the same pop-up menu. You may not be able to bring up this menu on certain interfaces, but tinySpell has more than one notification method. If it detects a typo, the application will play a sound and its system tray icon will change colors.

You can bring up the same suggestions list by clicking the system tray icon once. You can also right click the icon, to reveal a series of options, for enabling or disabling the notification sounds, accessing the application's dictionary and its general settings menu, and enabling or disabling tinySpell for specific applications. If you decide to correct your words when you are done with the entire text, you may bring up a small spelling window. All you have to do is copy a misspelled word to the clipboard. The word will appear on the spelling window, which contains an option for displaying the suggestions menu.

Pros

tinySpell verifies your spelling as you type and it works with any Windows application. It notifies you in different ways when you misspell a word and it provides various suggestions. You can also add words to a dictionary so that the application will not interpret them as mistakes.

Cons

There are no options for verifying entire paragraphs. If you want a simple and easy to understand application to check your spelling on the go, then tinySpell is the solution you are looking for.
